2018 Iowa High School & K-8 State Championships Tournaments (USCF Denker & Barber Qualifying Event)

The Iowa State Chess Association is pleased to host Denker and Barber qualifying event to determine the High School and Grade K-8 Champion. The Denker is open to high school students (9-12) only. Barber is open to students in grades K-8 only. Champions have the right to represent Iowa in the 2018 Denker Tournament of High School Champions and Barber K-8 State Champions to be held in Madison, WI, July 28 - August 5, 2018. Students must be under 19 as of 9/1/2018. In the case of a tie for first place, a match will be held at mutually agreed upon time to determine the representative to the national event  Where: Gloria Dei Lutheran Church123 E Market St. Iowa City, IA 52245 Reg: On-site registration will be from 9:00 to 9:45 am on the day of the tournament. Rounds: 4 games - 60 minutes per player per game. Games at 10:00, 12:30, Games 3 & 4 ASAP. If there are less than 8 players, TD reserves the right to cancel round 4. Entry Fee: $15 if registered by 1/20/2018, $20 at site. Pre-register by contacting Eric Vigil at evigil@gmail.com on or before 1/19/2018. Please include Name, USCF ID #, and grade. Prize Info: Trophies to Top 5 Overall. Denker: Top scores for USCF U1200, U1000, U800, U600 & Unrated. Barber: Top scores for USCF U1000, U800, U600, U400 & Unrated.
