Premier: Open to All (FIDE and USCF Rated) 

Entry Fee: $85 by 2/7; $100 by noon 2/14; $110 on site. GMs, IMs FREE. 

Prizes based on 45 total and 5 per class: $1000 1st, $500 2nd, $300 3rd, U2200, U2100 each $250. 

 

Amateur: Open to U2000 

Entry Fee: $75 by 2/7; $90 by noon 2/14; $100 on site. 

Prizes based on 45 total and 5 per class: $600 1st, $300 2nd, $250 3rd, U1900, U1800 each $200. 

 

Reserve: Open to U1700 

Entry Fee: $60 by 2/7; $70 by noon 2/14; $80 on site. 

Prizes based on 45 total and 5 per class: $400 1st, $200 2nd, $130 3rd, U1600, U1500 each $100. 

 

Sophomore: Open to U1400 

Entry Fee: $50 by 2/7; $60 by noon 2/14; $70 on site. 

Prizes based on 30 total and 5 per class: $300 1st, $150 2nd, $100 3rd, U1300, U1200 each $80. 

 

Bantam: Open to U1100 

Entry Fee: $45 by 2/7; $55 by noon 2/14; $60 on site. 

Prizes based on 30 total and 5 per class: $250 1st, $120 2nd, $80 3rd, U900 Trophy, U700 Trophy, U500 Trophy.

On-site registration
: Friday 5–6 PM, Saturday 8 – 9 AM Saturday (1/2 bye for Round 1).
Round Times: Friday 7:30 PM; Saturday 2:00 PM, 6:30 PM; Sunday 11:00 AM, 3:30 PM (Starts ASAP after MSCA Hall of Fame Awards).
Time control:
Game/90+30s bonus (ONLY games in 3-day schedule Premier FIDE rated). 

 

2-Day Schedule:

On-site registration: Saturday 8 – 9 AM Saturday.  

Round Times: Saturday 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 6:30 PM; Sunday 11:00 AM, 3:30 PM (Starts ASAP after MSCA Hall of Fame Awards).

Time control: Round 1 Game/90 with a 5 second delay, Rounds 2-5 Merge with 3-Day Schedule.

Round one start time is approximate. It will begin at the conclusion of the General Membership Meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. on Friday evening. USCF and MSCA or home state membership required (must be MSCA member to qualify for MN Closed Championship). Wheelchair accessible, No Smoking, No Computers. USCF February 2020 Supplement used.

Open to all ages Unrated or U800 Saturday; 5 games with Swiss pairings; G/25 d/3; Entry fee: Online $20 by 2/7; $25 by noon 2/14; $30 on site. Prizes: Medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and USCF and MSCA memberships to players who scores 3.5 points or more! Saturday; rounds as soon as possible on completion of games. Memberships not required. Onsite Registration: Saturday 10:30am-11:00am.

Open to all USCF members (including new unrateds); 4SS; Game/60 d/5; Entry Fee: Online $25 by 2/7; $30 by Midnight Saturday 2/15; $40 on site. Prizes: (Based on 15), 1st $120, 2nd $60, “bottom half class prize” $60; rounds as soon as possible on completion of games. Onsite Registration: Sunday 10:30am-11:00am.

MSCA Membership Meeting & Information
Our Annual MSCA Membership meeting will be held on Friday at 6pm. The Minnesota Open is one of the oldest annual chess tournaments in the United States. This is the 127th Minnesota Open.

Unrated Players: They may play in any section but qualify for prizes only in the Premier section & Saturday Beginners event. 

Time Forfeit Rule: Please arrive within 30 minutes of the round time to avoid forfeiture.
