Minnesota High School (K-12) Championship
 

Saturday and Sunday (2 days)

6 Round Swiss System

Time Control: Rounds 1-2 (Game/60 delay/5), Round 3-6 (Game/90 delay/5)

Round Times: Saturday: 10:00am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 7:00pm

Sunday: 10:00am, 2:00pm

Entry Fee: $40 by 2/20, $50 by 3/6 $60 on site. Mail in entries due Feb 27.  Address: 1121 Jackson Street NE, Suite 134.  Minneapolis, MN 55413.  Email danezagar@gmail.com for additional details. You may register for this section as an unrated player. If unrated, you are encouraged to establish a provisional rating before the event. This can be accomplished by playing in one USCF rated event completed and rated by the USCF no later than Friday, March 6th.

Minnesota High School (9-12) Under 1200 & Unrated Championship  

Saturday and Sunday (2 day)

Entry Fee: $40 by 2/20, $50 by 3/6 $60 on site. Open to players with a rating under 1200 or unrated. Must be in Grades 9-12 to participate in this section.


Minnesota Junior High Middle School (K-8) Championship
 

Saturday and Sunday (2 day)

Minnesota Elementary (K-5) Championship
 

Saturday and Sunday (2 day)

Time Control: Game/60 delay/5

Round Times: Saturday: 10:00am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm

Sunday: 10:00am, 2:00pm

Entry Fee: $35 by 2/20, $45 by 3/6 $50 on site.

 

Minnesota Primary (K-3) Championship
Saturday (1 day)

4 Round Swiss System

Time Control: Game/45 delay/5

Round Times: 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:00pm

Note: Schedule is approximate, pairings as soon as possible when the previous round is completed, lunch break after round 2. Unrated players can play in this section if they are the right grade. 

Entry Fee: $35 by 2/20, $45 by 3/6 $50 on site.

Awards 

The Awards Ceremony for each section will begin approximately 15-30 minutes after the last game for the day has completed.

All sections will have top individual and team trophy awards. K-12 Championship section will include class awards. More trophies and categories may be added. Two or more players are required to make a team. A player may participate without being on a team. The team score will be the top four individual scores among team members.

The titles of team and individual Minnesota State Scholastic Champions will be awarded at this event.

 

The Minnesota representative for the National Denker Tournament of High School Champions will be the Minnesota High School Champion, Minnesota representative for the Barber Tournament of 6-8th Grade Champions will be the K-8 State Champion (provided they are in 6-8th grade), and the K-5 State Champion will be the Minnesota representative for the new Rockefeller Tournament. In the event of a tie for representative spot(s), a playoff will occur according to MSCA Playoff Rules.

 

Side Activities    

Sunday USCF Rated Blitz! 

Starting right after the awards ceremony, 6 double-rounds, $5 entry, no awards. Adults and children are both welcome - USCF membership must be current.
