MSCA November Scholastic
The fourth edition of the MSCA Scholastic will be taking place on November 23rd! Our goal is to provide casual regular youth events, targeted towards scholastic players who want to play rated level chess, but are intimidated by more serious tournament play.
Unlike the first three events, this event will be taking place at the Holiday Inn Airport South Bloomington, along with the 2019 Minnesota Class Championship.
Also, based on the survey results taken at the September Scholastic, we are increasing the time control to 45d5, and changing the schedule to 4 rounds.
Tournament Details
Date: Saturday, November 23th, 2019
Sections: 3 Sections: K-5, 6-12. Instead of an open section, advanced players can choose to play in the 2019 Minnesota Class Championship instead - taking place at the same site!
Time Control: Game/45, 5-second delay
Round Times: 10:00am, 11:45am, 1:45pm, 3:30pm.
Entry Fee: $30 by November 11thth, $35 by November 22nd, and $40 onsite. Onsite registration will close by 9:45am
Awards: Scholastic: In each section, prizes for the top individual places will be given out, as well as the top team in each section. Team members are allowed to attend different schools, and the top three scores in each team will count towards the team prize. Contact us with any questions on policies for teams.
Venue: Holiday Inn Airport Bloomington South: 1201 W 94th St, Bloomington, MN 55431. NOTE THIS IS A DIFFERENT VENUE THAN THE CHESS CASTLE.
Other Information
Memberships: Free USCF memberships will be provided to all scholastic players without a current membership. You are not required to purchase a membership on your own, or through this site, although you must provide us your Full Name, Address, and Date of Birth for the membership to be processed.
Lunch: Due to hotel contract rules, we will not be able to provide lunch for players, and we have reduced the entry fee $5 to compensate. There is a restaurant in the hotel, and a few more resturants nearby.
